Calders Stay at Mooinooientjie by

The house is perfectly positioned one road from the sea. It is perfect accommodation for a family of 2 adults and some children. The house is well equipped except for an oven which some people might struggle with. A perfect holiday cottage.

Dissapointed by

I'm sorry to say but we feel cheated as we spent a lot of money to stay here for 4 nights and what originally looked good turn sourer, The good looking built in fire place that was well covered for do's and don'ts turned into a disaster as the first fire filled the room with smoke, on checking I found it had no chimney fitted only some home made system of a fan and some planks? so we sat down in a cold room and froze more as there are no mats, but a doormat which helped a bit? not even a hot bath/shower could help as the geyser is turned down so low as to only give one a warm shower, so off to bed, and at least they were comfortable, so overall, I don't think I could recommend it as a good value for money cottage----sorry!!! ???

Establishment Response:

Of course there is a chimney! We had a fan professionally installed in the outside wall, to prevent any smoke from escaping into the room. I explained to Mrs Twig that this fan must be switched on, electrically, when packing and lighting a fire. We spent 4 Days in the house to prepare and clean and wait for the Twig family.
We made a fire  on 2 occasions in order to braai. The fire place DOES NOT SMOKE!!.
We think they forgot our instructions re switching the fan on, when making a fire!!
They could have phoned us to ask why it was smoking, not so?
Some guests hate carpets!
Some guests hate tiles!
It was definitely not cold yet, during the 4 days that we were there!!
I like to bath, my husband likes to shower. He says he has to add cold water when showering. I put the plug in and run the hot water tap. A substantial amount of cold water runs into the bath through the pipes, before the hot water starts flowing.
My bath water is not cold!
On the website, we inform guests that we provide 2 x pillows per person, plus inner duvets. All other linens; bed, bath, kitchen, must be brought by the guest themselves.
As they had not properly read the information, they did not bring it with them.
I used my own linen, to prepare 2 double beds in 2 separate double bedrooms, as they said they don't sleep together.
I also provided bath towels and bath mats,
I provided a table cloth and dish cloths all with pleasure and trying to satisfy them.
please read my description  of the beach COTTAGE. I believe I am 100% honest...
They had the whole house to themselves. There is an outside built in braai and a wonderful very large wooden deck built under enormous shade trees. We are situated 1 block from the beach. How sad that people can waste their precious time finding fault.
We had to drive from Paarl to welcome them and back again for only a 4 day stay!
5  to 7 days minimum stay applies out of season and 10 to 14 days in season.
They surely saw the rates on the website, yet they booked the cottage, knowing what they were going to pay for, what they were going to get?
They wanted a pensioner's discount. Maybe that is what upset them?
