Lady Grey is one of the most scenic towns in the Eastern Cape, regarded as the jewel in the crown. It is beautifully set in a valley against the backdrop of mountains and has many trees and interesting historic buildings. It lends itself to various outdoor activities and events such as the Passion Play, MacNab and the Skyrun.

Mountain View Country Inn, Boutique Hotel, is situated in the heart of Lady Grey. It is in a quiet area yet within walking distance from the business center. The historic building dates to the 1870's when it was the Commercial Hotel. The original style was Victorian, but a double-story extension called for the older section to change to fit in with the Edwardian style.

Throughout the years there were many owners, but the Hotel was in general well maintained. The Oertel family had it for the past 20 years during which all rooms were individually decorated, each in its own style, without compromising the character of the building.

Rooms are of various sizes, and all have en-suite bathrooms and modern comforts such as electric blankets and heaters as well as Wi-Fi and Flat screen TVs offering various channels. The hotel also has a fully licensed a la Carte Restaurant and Conference Facilities.
