Come discover the Santa Maria peninsula at Nhonguane Lodge; enjoy excellent fishing, snorkelling and gorgeous beach sunsets. We offer self-catering accommodation in the form of comfortable houses and a Safari-tented camp for the nature lover. An unforgettable holiday awaits you. Nhonguane Lodge is located at the eastern side of the Bay of Maputo along the beach about 1 km from the channel separating the peninsula from Inhaca Island. The local village of Santa Maria is about 3 km from the lodge to the south and stock most necessities. Seafood sold on site brought in by local vendors such as prawns, crab and fish are usually available. Nhonguane Lodge is only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle through the Maputo Elephant Reserve or by boat via Maputo.
The self-catering holiday houses offer fully equipped kitchens that are serviced daily. The houses can accommodate individuals, groups or the whole family. All units are air-conditioned, and all windows have mosquito nets. All of the houses have their own braai facility, and are just a couple of metres from the beach. Some of the houses have their own swimming pool. There is also a communal swimming pool for the other houses, as well as a beach bar.
The Safari Tented Camp consists of three safari tents sleeping four people each. The safari-tented camp offers all the comfort of the necessary amenities, with en-suite bathrooms, fans and mosquito nets for every bed. The camp has a large thatched roof entertainment area with kitchen, bar counter and dining area. Marula trees provide the shade for an outside braai area.
The Santa Maria Peninsula is an unspoiled Mozambican shoreline situated just to the south of Inhaca Island in Southern Mozambique. Nhonguane Lodge is located at the eastern side of the Bay of Maputo along the beach about 1 km from the channel separating the peninsula from Inhaca Island. The Bay of Maputo stretches for 40 km from Maputo to the peninsula. Maputo is 550 km from Johannesburg by road and the Lodge is 38 km across the bay as the crow flies.
