Nilspoort Farm is situated 28 km from Fouriesburg, in a peaceful and calm place for ultimate relaxation. The house was completed in 1907 by Piet van der Bijl, who lived there until 1925, and it can accommodate 12 guests comfortably.

The mountains and the peacefulness of this location will lull you into a blissful state to be one with nature. The farm house has three bedrooms, a beautiful lounge area, a bar with a fireplace, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with a coal stove, a gas stove and a gas fridge as well as an outdoor braai area.

Blesbuck and other wild buck and animals roam the hills and mountains - guests will spot a few of them. There are lovely dams where the keen bass angler can escape to. Off-road cyclists are welcome to bring their bikes, and for the nature lover this is truly something to remember.

Come and enjoy an old-fashioned getaway in the heart of the Eastern Free State, a place that will make you come back again and again. The price is subject to change according to quantity of people.

Real down to Earth by

A peaceful weekend in a beautiful original home. No electricity adds to the "simple" experience.

Ghosts roam these hills by

The house is set at the end of a dirt road that narrows as it winds towards the Witteberge south of Bethlehem. A row of aging Oak Trees lines the last stretch of road, ending as it reaches the old sandstone house. A small stream, flanked by Weeping Willows, passes close by at the foot of the mountain. At sunset one can walk up the hill behind the house and see range upon range of sandstone ridges glowing ochre from the last rays of the sun. When the sun sets, darkness descends quickly on the house. It takes time for the eyes to get use to the soft light of oil lamps and candles. Bats skirt the edges of the wide L-shaped stoep. A lonely bull calf bawls anxiously in the distance. Nearby at the stream, one imagines a young man waiting. We had a wonderful time.

Experience the tranquil atmosphere of farm living at its best. Beautifully located on the slopes of the drakensburg mountains.

A peaceful and comfortable stay by

Although Nilspoort farm house is old and has no electricity it is perfectly set up for a family holiday. The gas applicances work really well and it is enchanting to spend evenings by candle and oil lamp light. It is so far from the traffic and the city that it offers peace and quiet and recuperation. I would return as often as possible.

Beautifully restored original farm cottage by

We enjoyed our stay in this original farm cottage in a beautiful location in the mountains about 30km from Fouriesburg. It's tastefully restored, with lots of original fittings, eg the kaggel. It's well provisioned for self catering, with good quality beds. On the downside, there is no electicity, although all the gas equipment works well. Although there are 12 beds, there are only 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, so 12 people would be too squashed. Also, the cottage is a long way off the tar road - 20km. The gravel road was mostly ok, my nissan sentra could handle it, but lower cars might not be ok.
