7 Passes Tented Camp is a bed and breakfast tented camp in the tradition of the great rest camps of yesteryear; modern and luxurious. Relax in your luxury self-catering safari tent overlooking the lake at Mandalay Farm, near Wilderness, on South Africa's Garden Route coast.
It's your base from which to explore the attractions and enjoy all the things to do in the Wilderness, Sedgefield, and Knysna sections the Garden Route National Park, and in Mossel Bay, and Oudtshoorn and the Klein Karoo.
This is mountain biking country and it's also a great destination for birding, walking and hiking, horse riding, motor bike touring, canoeing, scenic drives and simply relaxing. Attractions in the Garden Route include mountain bike trails, the Pezula, Simola, Fancourt, Oubaai, George, Mossel Bay, and Pinnacle Point championship golf courses, Blue Flag beaches and much, much more.
7 Passes Tented Camp is situated near Wilderness, at Woodville between the Touw and Diep River Passes on the Seven Passes Road. This famous and scenic route was once the only road between the city of George in the West and the holiday town of Knysna in the East, but now it's a peaceful, quiet country lane that just begs to be explored.
Each of our permanent, waterside safari tents has its own wooden deck with views of the lake and the Outeniqua Mountains, its own en-suite wood-panelled bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and over-bath shower, and its own kitchenette with microwave, fridge and kettle.
Remember those days in the game reserve, when cooking was a communal affair, and mealtimes were long, relaxed, and indulgent. That's what we're planning for our boma which is currently under construction. The boma is an African tradition, with its fire pit as the focus; it's a meeting place that's designed to foster conversation and friendship.
There's nothing quite as relaxing as sitting round the flames and eating and drinking and telling stories as you watch the embers glow.
