Right at the start of the great Karoo, the Alhoa Halfway Stop is as convenient as its name suggests, with many places of interest, historical sites and of course the Gariep Dam, within a short travelling distance.

The house can accommodate up to seven guests in three bedrooms. Self-catering facilities include an equipped kitchen and lounge area with TV. There is also a pool table.

Old but great by

Seeing no reviews I was hesitant to book at Alhoa. However, it was the best decision ever made. Melody called during day to confirm our arrival. On arrival we were met and provided with a complimentary 2l juice (welcome after a long hot road trip). If I had known of all the facilities - braai wood, microwave, loads of ice, stove and entertainment area I would have braaied the evening. there were lots of towels, bath products etc. Heat was not an issue as house felt cool and there were fans.. The place is spacious and I would recommend using it as a holiday base and not merely a stop over. Things are old but CLEAN and shall I say it again SPACIOUS. I admired some of the interesting furniture. Highly recommended and I will certainly use this if available in the future. Great host and great accommodation.

Convenient and value for money by

Second time at Alhoa and owners still manage place themselves. It means direct customer service. Place was renovated and thus even better!
I recommend it as a stopover instead of colesburg as its only 30 min away. Better value for money and better customer service.
Recommend it as a base to explore the nearby area. Or if you want to enjoy the gariep dam for a few days as a group.

Melody is incredibly friendly and fetched us from town. The home was incredibly clean and well organised. We had an absolutely amazing time here. I would definitely recommend adding this to your travel itinerary!

Please just up grade the shower for the rest it was great comfortable stay
