Alpetra Nature Reserve is private game reserve in the beautiful Waterberg District of the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Here, nature is left unspoilt as the Creator intended it ? for the animals to roam free, the birds to sing their sweetly songs, the mountains to stand proudly in their grandeur, and the breeze to sweep mischievously through the trees?
Tucked snugly between the South-Western fence of Welgevonden Game Reserve and the Southern fence line of Marakele National Park, Alpetra Nature Reserve offers a selection of accommodation consisting of 4 self-catering chalets at the main lodge, one large private bush lodge and a lovely lakeside cabin. The standard of accommodation all around is far above average.
The Waterfront Lodge (Main camp):
Four Self-catering units that offer accommodation for 4 ? 6 persons overlook the dam and mountains. Guests will enjoy the delightful sparkling pool and private or shared braai facilities.
Buffelsfontein Bushlodge:
Private and secluded and set some distance away from the main camp, is the perfect private setting for a group of 12 people sharing. Here you can stay in luxurious surrounds in peace and quiet and harmony with nature. A heated pool and stunning boma completes the picture and makes this a popular destination for family groups or small parties!
Lakeside Cabin
Tucked away deep in the bush, private and secluded, Lakeside Cabin gives new meaning to ?living on the Wildside?. The cabin is a thatch roof unit with canvas walls and wooden flooring (beds to be specified at booking) that overlooks the dam. Fishing is permitted.
Easy driving distance from OR TAMBO International Airport
With only a pleasant 2.5-hour drive from Johannesburg, this malaria-free area of the Waterberg is easily accessible. Passing through little country towns such as Modimolle and Vaalwater makes the journey even more pleasant because here you can stop for a while to stretch your legs and browse the many delightful tourist attractions. Once you turn off the main road and start descending into the belly of the Waterberg, the beautiful scenery will take your breath away.
Relax, slow down, observe? the rocky outcrops and river valleys, tall trees and busty shrubs, monkeys frolicking around, the low sweep of a hornbill flying by? all just as Nature intended it to be?
