Arolela (meaning 'sharing') is a guest farm in Caledon in the Western Province of South Africa. It co-exists with a working farm, producing wheat, barley, oats and sheep. The setting is typical Overberg with lots of blue crane birds. The view alternates between canola yellow, brown, and luminous green, depending on the season. The farm is only 1 hour's drive from Cape Town, situated 14 km from Botriver, 18 km from Caledon and 45 km from both Hermanus and Greyton.
The founder of Arolela, MG Lötter, is already the 5th generation on this family farm. All the staff involved in Arolela, live on the farm as they are related to the farm workers.
Although the accommodation is self-catering, guests can select the level of catering. Our kitchen personnel can prepare traditional "boerekos" meals with meat produced on the farm. Other services such as cleaning, nanny and laundry, are also available on request. All kitchens are well equipped and high emphasis is placed on hygiene and cleanliness. Only white or cream bedding are used, of the highest quality.
Not only does Arolela serve as a useful base to the surrounding area and coastline, it also provides a safe environment where kids can play freely and adults can escape from day to day life.
