Bird Cottage is situated in the beautiful seaside village of Sedgefield and lies midway between Knysna and George, in the heart of the Garden Route. The owner, Andy Nortje, has a special interest in birds of prey and the rehabilitation of injured raptors; guests may have the opportunity to view these raptors on the premises.
Guests have a choice of staying in the lovely Bird Cottage or the Guinea Room. Both units are furnished with comfortable double beds and sleeper couches, and each unit has an en-suite bathroom. The Bird Cottage has a lounge equipped with a TV offering DStv, and the kitchen is fully equipped. The unit has a private entrance and braai facilities in the garden. The Guinea Room has a comfortable lounge with a TV offering local channel access, and there is a kitchenette equipped with a mini stove, oven, fridge and freezer.
Bordering the Goukamma Nature Reserve and the Wilderness National Park, Sedgefield leaves the visitor spoilt for choice when it comes to birdwatching and walks amoungst indigenous fauna and flora. The Groenvlei Lake lies to the east of Sedgefield and is popular for its bass fishing. Guests can go horse riding on the beach and in the forest, or go on train trips on the famous Outeniqua Choo-Choo. There is kitesurfing and paragliding for the more adventurous.
