The main guest house was built in 1907 and is of historical interest. It belonged to a lady by the name of Ray Schauder who happened to be a doctor. She turned it into a home for unmarried mothers in the 1960's. Dr. Schauder died after a melanoma was left untreated. She was still relatively young. The property was declared a memorial home for Dr. Ray Schauder, whose father was the mayor of Port Elizabeth in 1942. Adolf Schauder has had a location named after him because of the good work and help he gave people in Schauderville in the 40's and onwards. The property then became part of the Salvation Army, who then sold it to the present owners in 1998. The home was renovated and it has the original oregan pine features, high ceilings and large rooms within a tranquil garden.
