Making maximum use of natural light and textures, the accommodation is arranged on four mezzanine levels. It offers three light and airy double bedrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and stylish en-suite bathrooms, in addition to a studio apartment with a mini-kitchen and an outside shower.

The stylish and well-equipped kitchen-dining room offers magnificent ocean views, as does the main lounge and additional sitting-dining space. Folding external glass doors allow all areas to be opened to create free-flow access to the great outdoors. A portable braai unit is available to guests, while the fire pit offers an extraordinary setting for sundowners and good conversation.

Cliff House is designed for sensual pleasure and total relaxation. Set within an attractive indigenous garden, the superb 18 m rim-flow lap pool and adjacent Jacuzzi will tempt you to watch for whales and dolphins while soaking up the African sun.

A boardwalk leads down from the pool area to a delightful oceanside viewing platform; perfect for whale and dolphin watching in season. Walk a little further and you arrive at the newly constructed Clifftop fire pit; the ideal location for a sundowner in front of the dancing flames.

The state-of-the art home entertainment system provides music throughout the house and the LCD TV screens, located in the master bedroom and lounge, offer satellite channels and DVD viewing for lazy evenings at home.It has a built in guest safe for the security conscious guests.

There are numerous restaurants, supermarkets and shops in the Knysna waterfront, quays and town centre less than a 10-minute drive away. Knysna and nearby Plettenberg Bay offer excellent opportunities for all manners of outdoor pursuits.

Great house, great views but management poorly prepared by

This house is as gorgeous as the pictures and you will not be disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our only complaint was the fact that the property managers seem to have forgotten we were coming. We were the first guests they have had since May (as a result of winter) and they were not prepared at all. We called them after collecting the cars from the George Airport to let them know we were coming. They asked us to run our errands, like shopping, first before coming through to the house. We did not do this as we wanted to check-in first. When we arrived, they were only cleaning the house at that time. The gardener was still making the outside look pretty and the cleaner was ironing and cleaning. Also we had issues with the following:

(1) Gas heaters ran out on our first night. These had not been refilled or checked since the guests in May. We were cold on the first night as they could only get us gas again the following day.

(2) Lights were not working. These died on us on the second day, there was clearly no maintenance check done before we arrived.

(3) Only the geyser in the main bedroom was working. Once again, no maintenance check was done after the winter period. It was not nice having only one bathroom working when there were 8 people. This was sorted out the next day but this should have been checked before we arrived.

That being said, the property manager was very friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed ourselves and I would recommend this house to any one at any time. Maybe just call them the day before you remind them that you are arriving the next day.

Establishment Response:

We were fully aware of when the guests were due and were fully prepared for their arrival - we have, in fact, had bookings during the last few months and the house is always maintained to the highest standard. 

We always have the maid and gardener at the house on the day guests arrive to ensure that everything is fresh and clean. Both of these staff members were just going about their regular duties when the guests arrived.

Regarding their specific issues;

Gas heaters - Knysna - together with this area in general - has been experiencing a shortage of gas supplies for the last month. The gas cylinders were working when the guests arrived and one ran out on the first night. We moved supplies from another house to accommodate these guests.

Lights & geysers - despite every property managers best efforts issues arise occasionally with systems and installations. Our maintenance team were on-hand immediately, the problems identified and everything was resolved very swiftly.

Finally, our last communication from the guests was as follows;

"Our overall impression was great and we have recommended the house to all our friends who liked our pictures. I am sure we will be back in future?.

Nothing we like more than happy guests - job done!



Fantastic view and great pool by

The Cliff House is very comfortable house at the end
of the heads. The view and the pool are awesome. Unfortunately the rooms are all a bit 
damp. 
The kitchen equipment is ok, the toaster was not really working and we had to buy good wine glasses to enjoy our wine. Three of six sunbeds were broken and the management told us that new one will come.  It would have been nice to have a welcome sheet with someone restaurant tips and some fresh flowers or a bottle of wine. 
At least we had enjoyed our stay there.
