Clifton Country House

This guest checked in on 30th July and did not pay the balance of account on arrival as required. After been shown the accommodation, I enquired if she was satisfied and received no negative feedback. The following morning met the client again before she went out and enquired if all was well and reminded her to settle her outstanding account. The client again responded with no complaints. On the client's return later that day, I again met her and asked if all was well and again the response was she had no complaints and was satisfied. Less than approximately an hour later and without any further consultation, without settling the account, the guest departed and later sent an sms stating she had checked out because of a dead spider in the basin. The room had been fully serviced before midday and the guest departed at about 2:00pm. At no point, during any of our discussions, did she mention any complaints, nor enquire about the free wi-fi, nor inform the hosts of any issues nor provide the host an opportunity to remedy any faults, if any.

On inspection the room was clean, had been serviced, and there was no evidence of a spider in the hand basin, any evidence had been removed. It is unfortunate that the guest has chosen to deal with this incident in this manner as she had ample opportunity to voice any concerns she may have had, but chose not to. I believe this to be a fabricated excuse to evade paying, which is in breach of the contract with SafariNow and the venue. It is not a criminal offence for insects to be present, but departing without paying is unlawful. We reserve the right to pursue the recovery of the balance of the debt through our attorneys.
