Ou Malanstasie is a self-catering cottage located in an old, historic railway village station, just a short drive from Wellington.The cottage consists of three bedrooms that offer a double bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in the other rooms. The main bedroom is air-conditioned and all rooms have wall heaters for those chilly winters. The three rooms share the use of a bathroom with a bath and shower, and we provide all linen and towels.The kitchen is equipped for self-catering with a fridge, two-plate stove, microwave, tea and coffee facilities and an electric frying pan. Guests can enjoy their meals at the dining table and relax in the lounge which is equipped with a TV with local channels. The cottage is wheelchair friendly and a toilet support rail is available on request. Guests can relax on the veranda and make use of the built-in fireplace . Access is gained through a remote-controlled gate and guests can take a daily train from Ou Malanstasie to Cape Town and back every day.

The building is old but services, helpfulness, and willingness to accommodate were excellent.
Establishment's Response:
David Jacobus Malan sold a piece of land to the SA Railways in 1898 to build Malanstation. The cottage is part of the historical station complex which is part of the official cultural heritage of Wellington

Warm welcome by

What a lovely surprise! We felt so welcome, loved the rusks, honey, tea and big pile of wood to keep us warm on a winter's weekend. Cottage much larger than we envisioned, lots of space in the open plan living area and the beds are so comfy and warm. Gardens are lovely, beautiful olive groves and lovely pieces from the old Malan train station. The pair of owls at the bottom of the garden were the cherry on the top! Thank you
