2. I bought a bag of wood that I had to carry to the braai place myself ...very, very heavy. I had to carry the bag myself and hurt my back in the process.
3. The advert says it is a working farm ...what? ...with all those rusty implements all over the place??
T The photos of the river were taken during our raining season, WINTER, a few years ago.As you all know, it is now mid November and NOT our raining season in this part of the country. We had a VERY dry winter, it is actually a drought-crisis in this area!
The warning for snakes was just a friendly warning to be on the lookout for them. My friend, you are on a farm and NOT in a city ? on farms we do have lots of animals - tame AS WELL AS wild animals, such as snakes, spiders, bats, birds, frogs, ants, etc! What did you expect???
2. The guest bought a bag of braai wood and was surprised by the size of the bag for the
amount he paid. I suggested to carry the bag of wood for him, but he insisted on carrying it himself.
3. Du Vlei IS a working farm! But as you will notice it was over a weekend when Mr Wesso was our guest. Farm work starts on Monday-mornings & ends on Friday-afternoons. Only minor farm duties, like the irrigation & feeding of the animals are carried out over weekends.
All the rusty implements, dating since the early 1900's, are on display and for decoration purposes only. It is a pity this guest does not know the difference between display implements and the real ones and could not appreciate the ?rusty? implements for what they are there for.
Some people don't have a clue what farming is about, I guess???.
