Great place by

We stayed at the Castle one night on our way to Kruger. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was great. The staff were very friendly. My in-laws also stayed and were offered, what I call, the "King's Suite". It was amazing! Our room was much smaller, but the bed was comfy.

Good experience by

Great breakfast, comfy beds. Perfect for an overnight stay!

Unpleasant stay by

I did not have a good experience at this establishment and would not recommend it. Looks o.k on the outside and there are some good pieces of furniture dotted around, but inside its all dust, crumbling plaster, rusty gutters , peeling paint and chipped furniture in bedrooms. Took forever to book in as the reception was unmanned -somebody had to go in search of the receptionist first. The sliding door of the room I stayed in would not close for love of money -had to sleep with the door open. The bedding on the bed smelt if somebody else had already slept in it. I had one towel to use and no soap in the bathroom. The bath was filthy ,and uneven-as if chunks of plaster had hardened underneath the bath. Tea making facilities are available in room ,but only rooibos tea and no long life milk or whitener. Had to go out to buy own tea and milk. Breakfast was disgusting,to put it mildly. Fried polony and scrambled eggs and mouldy tasting toast. Again, only rooibos tea on offer which I don't drink.Kitchen staff eventually brought regular tea, teabags served straight from the packet. At R450 per night, the least one would expect would be efficiency from staff, cleanliness, soap and decent linen and towels. This place was probably good once but it is now in serious need of an upgrade, maintenance and hospitality management.

Emalahleni Castle by

Shocker. No offer of twin room (they were not busy at all ),one table cloth type towel for 2, no coffee mugs or teaspoons, blocked and leaking bidet - flooded room, brown water. Sorry, never again.
