Erongo Plateau Camp is situated in the heart of the majestic Erongo Mountain range, near Omaruru. This is the gate to Damaraland, with the famous desert elephants or ancient Himba tribe in Kaokoveld.

The campsite is small and secluded with four sites available, with clean ablution facilities equipped with hot- and cold-water showers and flushing toilets. Every campsite has a water tap and some shade.

There is no electricity available or a shop, guests must bring their own camping equipment and food. The camp is within comfortable traveling distance to Swakopmund, Hentiesbay, Twyfelfontein, Etosha or even the capital city Windhoek.

There are hiking trails situated in the mountains for the more adventurous. This area is best known for its mountain zebras. Sit back and relax in your camping chair while watching the waterhole on the lower plateau. This waterhole can be seen from each campsite and has solar light at night.

Best Campsite! by

Some friends and I stayed at Erongo Plateau Camp for 2 nights on a two-week road trip around Namibia.  This was our favourite campsite - it really is a hidden gem!  Situated in a nature reserve, the camp is on a plateau overlooking the plains.  The sites are spacious, immaculately clean, and offer great birdwatching, walks/hikes, and some game viewing.  Highly recommended!

We love camping here. We did however request for campsite one way ahead of time, but on arrival were booked at campsite two.

Fantastic views by

Spent 1 night and found the allocated campsite to be really clean and spacious and nicely laid out, with a welcome covered area and built-in braai, overlooking the Erongo Plateau view. The ablutions were clean and plenty of hot water and quite quaint.. With only 5 sites, peace and quiet is definitely guaranteed. The only downside is that the road is suitable for high vehicles and off-road trailers but definitely not for caravans, of which I was incorrectly advised after querying, and would certainly not have booked this camp if advised correctly - only about 8Kms of very slow, careful going, and still damaged my caravan.
