Forest Bird Lodge is situated in an evergreen forest, secluded among indigenous trees, just outside of Tzaneen.

The lodge gives a feeling of anticipation for fairies and other woodland creatures, and the mist creeping through the forest gives it a mystical atmosphere.

The forest gives complete privacy, where guests can feel at one with nature. Various birds can be seen from the lodge as well as Samango monkeys that forage in the trees.

There are short walks along the mountain stream with beautiful waterfalls. A more strenuous walk takes you up through the forest to a lovely lookout point of the valley. Mountain bike trips of 5 km can also be enjoyed along the forest road.

Peaceful in the forest by

We had a lovely weekend surrounded by the forest, birds, and the sound of the nearby waterfall. We loved the log cabin and would recommend it to anyone!

Weekend Away by

We had a very pleasant stay at Forest Bird Lodge. A nature lovers dream getaway.

Beautiful forest haven by

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The surroundings are stunning and the staff are very friendly, but their English is very limited. All information in the cabin is clearly noted and set out, but unfortunately no distances are indicated on the various walks. The warm water system can definitely be improved as the heated water isn't very clean. The directions aren't very clear and there is no board stating the venue name at the entrance,when this was queried the response was quite blunt and abrupt,which put a dampner on things even before our arrival. Other than our dealings with a lady named Anne, we really enjoyed our stay.
