Gecko Cottage Guest House is situated in Prieska, about 230 km West of Kimberley. We are the ideal stopover when touring the Northern Cape as well as the halfway stop between Namibia and the Western and Eastern Cape.

We offer four suites, each decorated with comfort in mind. One of the suites has its own living area and kitchenette, ideal for a family of three or that special honeymoon night. The guest house can accommodate up to nine guests in two double rooms; one room has two single beds and the suite has a queen-size bed and a single bed. All the rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with bar fridges, satellite TVs, lovely bathrooms and stylish linen and towels.

This guest house is beautifully restored in the old Karoo-cottage style, with old wooden floors and windows and a modernly decorated interior; it is a home away from home. A full English breakfast is served every morning and dinner is also available on request.

A very average guest house but above average staff friendliness.

Not 4 star by

Very disappointing! No one to meet us when the woman arrived did not introduce herself. The room smelt damp and had not been aired. Cigaret buts in ash trays from the night before on the veranda. The fish pond smells! Sorry 2 star at the most. Just glad we didn't decide to have their dinner!



My wife and I enjoyed our overnight stays at Gecko Cottage House. The towels were spotlessly clean and soft  - the best we have come across. The shower was particularly good in all regards and was also the best we have come across. However, the air conditioner should be attended to. On retiring it was set at 20° but during the night, it spontaneously started emitting hot air and had to be switched off.
On our second visit, we had to contact Gecko Cottage and this was very easily accomplished per mobile phone.
