At the very end of Agate Terrace, surrounded by virgin forests, unspoilt mountains and beautiful beaches lies Gecko's Place.

We offer a lovely, renovated, fully-equipped cottage perfect for the self-catering couple. The cottage contains one bedroom, a large bathroom and a quaint kitchen. Guests also have the use of a closed verandah.

For the larger family, a comfortable three-bedroom unit with twin beds and a sleeper couch can sleep up to eight guests. The unit comprises a full bathroom with shower and separate toilet, an open-plan kitchen and lounge area that walks out onto a deck overlooking the tropical garden.

There is also space for caravans and camp sites, providing travellers with a number of affordable options. The camp sites and caravan stands have electricity and there is a comfortable ablution block.

Gecko's Place offers you a safe base from where you can explore Pondoland and the Wild Coast. It is a wonderful, peaceful spot where one can simply relax and let the rest of the world continue on its way.

Enjoyable quiet stay by

We stayed in the very comfortable rondavel. Jackie and Louie were most helpful, also with advice on places to eat and sights to see. Dinner at Cremore's restaurant on their recommendation was exceptional and very reasonably priced.

The facilities and host were wonderful. Jackie and Louis were wonderful.



The road to the accommodation is a very bad dirtroad and it takes you at least half an hour to reach the Gecko's Place.
The big house smells awfull. When you take a shower the smoke of the waterheatinginstallation comes in the house.

The owners are  very helpfull. Louie showed us the beautiful surrounding with his 4 wheeldrive car.

We were not lucky with the weather. Because of the rain there was much humility and very much mosquitos.


Gecko's Place - Caravan 2 by

We stayed in Caravan 2 for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful setting from which to explore Port St Johns and surrounds.  The caravan accommodation, as is to be expected, is rustic but totally acceptable, and Louis and Jackie are the most kind and helpful hosts.  Especially Louis' advice on where to go, what to do and what to see was most appreciated. We'll visit again, will want to stay longer at their place and this time will upgrade to the rondavel or the bigger hut if we take our family with.
