Hollywood Lodge is a historical place that was the first high school for grade 8 and a dance hall for the Nama people in 1940, 50 and '60s. It was bought in 1983 by Johannes Vries and renovated into a house.
The place-name was kept over the years as Old Hollywood. His granddaughter saw the potential to renovate it into a lodge to accommodate tourist from all over the world. Johannes Vries was born in 1900 and his origin spread from Nama and German blood. He was during the war in South West Africa Known as Namibia the Magistrates messenger.
He was part off several historical happenings during his lifetime. Johannes Vries died at the age of 105 years old and left a big impact, which is told today by his granddaughter Letitia Louw. She is also nature and historical guide and offers different tours in and around Steinkopf telling the history of Kinderlê and other historical places. She offers customize hiking tours and can be rented as a driver taking tourist on special tours and sightseeing.
