Kheis Riverside Lodge is named after the indigenous Khoi-San that means "place to stay" and is situated on the banks of the Orange River, where the Upper Karoo and Kalahari Green join together. Kheis Riverside Lodge is the perfect stop over tourists, avid campers or travellers just looking to get away.
The lovely lodge offers a choice of comfortable chalets or campsites. The eight chalets are fully equipped for self-catering, with an open-plan living area. The chalets also offer guests beautiful views of the grounds and surroundings. The 10 campsites are located along the river bank, and each site has a private barbecue area and electricity is also provided. For guests wanting breakfast, lunch or dinner, this can be provided by the lodge's guest house, Grape Vine Guest House, about 10 km from the lodge. A lapa is also available for conference needs.
Fishing is a big attraction for anglers from all over the country, and for bird-watchers, there are 150 identified species in the area. Hiking trails can be found alongside the Orange River and water channels, and a 4x4 route is located on the nearby game farm for amateurs, within walking distance from the lodge.
Situated next to the river, various water activities can be enjoyed, from tube riding, canoeing down the river or simply relaxing and swimming. Life jackets are available on request. Sundowner game drives and horseback riding are also available on request.
