Kichaka Expeditions is a mobile bush camp specialising in walking safaris deep in the wilderness zones of the mighty Ruaha National Park, one of Africa's remotest and untouched paradises.
This camp offers private and exclusive safaris for groups from two to six people concentrating on walking safaris however for the less active the usual game drives are of course readily available. Kichaka moves location throughout the year depending on game movements and we utilise areas of this vast park that other operators dare not venture providing guests with a true and authentic wilderness experience. Our spots are carefully chosen where there are fantastic views with full shade where you can rest away in the heat of the day. Immerse yourself in raw nature as you are led by one of East Africa's most well-known guides through this magical and isolated Park delving deep into every facet of nature possible, from the intricacies of Termite society to the walking of Elephants on foot. Due to the private nature of the camp Kichaka can provide an experience which is totally catered to the guests needs and wants enabling enormous freedom with activity choices and areas to visit.
This small and intimate camp has three tents which comfortably hold two people. The tents themselves are supported by large metal frames and have plenty of standing space protected by heavy flysheets in case of rain which also keep the tents once and cool. The beds have comfortable mattresses which can be arranged as a double or a twin, there is a spacious covered verandah in front with great views of the surrounding area where we happened to be camped, ideal to sit and relax in the afternoon with a pair of binoculars quietly watching the animals and birds which may venture into camp.
Each tents has its own outdoor ablution structure nearby, also with great views and comprises of a wash basin, hot bucket shower and short drop toilet, much more hygienic than the long drop system and is cleaned and replaced throughout the day. The large and spacious mess area is covered, well shaded and the heart of the camp. There is a large dining table as well as comfortable chairs, sofas and beanbags scattered around. This is a nice peaceful environment to relax, read a book or chat the evening away near the campfire roaring close by.
Kichaka also boast a lightweight flycamp which is a small rustic satellite camp which can be moved to any part of the Park and erected at any time allowing guests to explore a multitude of different areas by foot or vehicle, totally untouched by man giving us access to nearly all 20,000 square Km of pristine Ruaha.
