Lake Shore Lodge lies on the banks of the beautiful Lake Tanganyika, with a 400 m private beach looking onto the nearby islands. The lodge is owner-run and our motto is ?come as guests and leave as friends'. Lake Tanganyika is situated in western Tanzania and boasts crystal clear water, wild otters, and more than 250 species of cichlid fish found no-where else on the planet. It is also the world's longest lake, the world's second deepest lake and holds almost 18 per cent of the world's fresh water. With breathtaking sunsets, starry skies and the friendliest people, this is a paradise not to be missed.Lake Shore Lodge can take qualified divers into this amazing body of water. With visibilities of up to 25 m, the diving and snorkelling here is spectacular and completely unique. We also offer adventure activities including fishing, kayaking, quad biking, mountain biking, walks to one of the oldest churches in Tanzania, birding along the river, and waterskiing. However, this is also the perfect place to simply relax in a hammock, watch the local fishermen and the slow changes of the lake, and do absolutely nothing. Join us for a delicious meal at our on-site Funky Mango Bar and Restaurant. We offer international cuisine, prepared with fresh ingredients from our organic farm and nearby located markets.
