Lamu House

Lamu House is situated on the seafront in Lamu Town. Lamu House comprises two Swahili houses with a central courtyard, renovated and adapted to the modern use. We have kept the enchantment of the traditional Swahili architecture and equipped Lamu House with all necessities to make your stay extremely comfortable.

Lamu House consists of 11 rooms and each room is different and has its own character with a balcony overlooking the sea and the old town, cradle of the Swahili culture.

The chef will delight your senses with excellent local cuisine, blending the best local ingredients. Abundant fresh seafood, coconut and tropical fruit are all combined with the exotic spices that have been traded along the East African coast for centuries. Lamu Moonrise Restaurant is open from 8 am to 10 pm and offers an excellent a la carte menu together with a selection of wines and spirits.

We have one swimming pool and two plunge pools, and numerous terraces are available for you to enjoy the Lamu lifestyle where time seems to have stopped a hundred years ago. You will be able to walk in the narrow daedal streets of Lamu Town, where donkeys remained the only means of transport.

There are two dhows, a traditional Swahili sailing boat, renovated by Lamu House which are available for day or night excursions to discover the superb beaches of the Archipelago, during which the crew will prepare an excellent lunch with fresh-caught fish. Snorkelling equipment and fishing lines are at your disposal on board. For a very romantic evening request dinner under the stars on-board the dhow.
