This serene viticultural town seems carved out of the surrounding mountains, lush and green, towering and imposing to every side, the crisp mountain winds funnel down the valleys into the town, fresh and pure. This is a highly sought after wine and food area with eight of the top one-hundred restaurants in South Africa found here, thirty wine cellars and thirty-plus restaurants.

Aside from these serious gastronomic contenders the main road (a five minute stroll down the road from your apartment) in this idyllic neck of the woods also teems with art and antique shops, galleries small restaurants, delis and coffee shops.

A supermarket is also close by (a mere four minute drive) as is the famous Franschhoek Station Pub and Grill (child friendly, outdoor covered garden and craft beers) and one of the stops for the hop-on/hop-off Franschhoek Wine Tram (more on that below). .
