Not at all what I expected or what was advertised by

I originally planned on having this as my go-away place after getting engaged. Boy am I glad my original plans didn't work out. After paying R2500 per night I expected a lodge experience and to be wined and dined. On finally arriving after driving around for 40 minutes as the place is very poorly marked we finally arrived and a volunteer was there to greet us. We were taken through the back door of the kitchen where everyone was busy cutting chicken and horse meat to feed to the animals a little later. There was a lot of confusion to where we would be staying as we were the only guests. The volunteer told us that we can meet her later where we will all make food together. After first walking to the wrong room and finally arriving where we should sleep, the place was half made-up and very dirty in some areas. The bedding even smelled murky. No food or welcoming drinks were provided. Only one cup with some cheap coffee in for two guests were standing on a not even switched on refrigirator. We tried to relax a little and decided to still try and make the best of the stay. As we were told that there would be animal interactions and a game drive we decided to go and try to at least experience this. There was no plan on this and we walked around with another volunteer to go and see some of the animals. Luckily we joined them because they were off to feed the animals and we could ride along to also see this. Apparantly there was another miscommunication and they will prepare dinner for us. We had a very nice tasting chicken and some veggies for supper with a choice of fruit salad and ice cream. At supper it felt for the first time that we were guests, but the type of food was not at all worth the money. The next morning we watched a lion feeding that was quite special. We were served a choice of rice crispies and coco pops for breakfast. Again I expect a nice warm breakfast if I pay R2500 a night. We were taken to cheetahs after breakfast in a enclosure and got to interact with them. The guy that took us here was very kind and only on checking out I felt briefly like a guest for the second time. In short this is a great establishment with a lot of potential. They truely love the animals and do great work with them. There are loads of volunteers and this place should not be run like a lodge at the moment in my opinion. They have absolutely no guest relations and everyone comes and goes like a big happy family. Which is great for a weekend breakaway. But then it shouldn't be advertised as a lodge and most definitely not at that price.
