The Makhangoa Community Camp and Rosehip Family Cottage is a remarkable community driven lodge and self-catering family cottage situated in the heart of Lesotho, on the Bokong River, where if flows into Katse Dam.
Rosehip Family Cottage is a self-catering unit catering for a max of four adults and up to eight people, aimed exclusively at couples and families looking for an authentic, remote, rural, and comfortable Lesotho mountain experience.

Rosehip Cottage is designed and built to mirror a traditional Basotho homestead and blend in with the mountain environment. The cottage comprises two en suite rooms, joined via an open plan kitchen, dining and living area with cozy fire place. The cottage is complete with verandah, deck, and braai (BBQ) area overlooking the Bokong River with views north, up the picturesque Bokong valley. The cottage is north facing with expansive views from all rooms.

Rosehip Cottage is built using local stone and is a fine example of traditional masonry. Each bedroom consists of twin or king-size bed configurations, and two additional single beds, in the form of bunk beds for kids or young adults. Each room has an en suite bathroom, which contains a shower, flush toilet and basins. The kitchen is fully kitted with gas stove and oven, fridge and deep freeze and a comprehensive set of crockery, cutlery and cooking ware. The cottage is fully furnished and decorated with top quality fittings and furniture to ensure you are just as happy indoors, as out. Lighting throughout is 220v via battery, inverter and solar system. There are plug points in the living area to charge cameras and phones. Bedding and towels, and gas are supplied. Hot water is provided by means of energy efficient gas geysers.

The Makhangoa Community Camp Main Lodge is designed and built to mirror a traditional Basotho homestead and blend in with the mountain environment. The camp comprises of four traditional Rondavels (round chalets), each sleeping two guests in single beds. The Rondavels are built out of river stone and thatch, and each has a veranda overlooking the river. The heart of the camp is the outside deck, and large living/kitchen area, which comprises of a lounge with large welcoming couches, a fireplace, and large black-wood dining table. This building is also built from local stone and is a fine example of traditional masonry. The camp kitchen comprises gas stoves, fridge, and freezer facilities. Lighting throughout the camp is 220v via battery and inverter system and solar. There are plug points in the living area to charge cameras and phones. The kitchen is fully kitted with gas stove and oven, fridge and deep freeze and a comprehensive set of crockery, cutlery and cooking ware.
Ablutions in the main camp are in a separate ablution building at the back of the camp, overlooking the estuary system, where the Bokong flows into Katse Dam. The ablutions consist of two flush toilets, two hot showers, and two hand basins, all with hot and cold running water. Bedding and towels are supplied. Superb farm style catering can be arranged on request. Makhangoa Community Camp Main Lodge is available for self-catered guests from 15 April ? 15 Nov annually
