Morokolo Safari Lodge is situated on the northern slopes of the Pilanesberg Mountains in the Black Rhino Game Reserve, recently incorporated into the Pilanesberg National Park, and boasts one the richest varieties of African wildlife, predators, fauna & flora in Africa. We are a small, private lodge, tucked away from the rest of the world.

Enjoy an African safari on our 10-seater game viewers with your own dedicated game ranger. Refresh in our cool swimming pool with a view of the Pilanesberg Mountains. Unwind in the intimate 6-seater Jacuzzi.

We have eight luxury suites split over 2 camps. Two are family suites and six are double suites. The double suites sleep two people (double or twin), and family suites sleep two people (double or twin) downstairs, and two people (twin) in the open loft. All the suites are spacious and fully air-conditioned.

Each suite has an ample en-suite bathroom with modern finishes (with bath and shower), comfy seating area and private patio. There is a stocked mini bar in each room, which will be charged for on departure. There is also a complimentary tea and coffee station in each suite.

The main entertainment area is open plan, and has a lounge with a TV, DSTV and DVD player, a beautiful bar area with pool table and various board games, and an outside patio area that seats up to ten people.

We have covered parking for eight vehicles.

Our lodge can sleep a maximum of twenty people.

Buffalo regularly roam in this area as they take shelter in remote areas not accessible to other visitors to Pilanesberg National Park. Characterised by a beautiful forest of Tamboti trees and regular sightings of the bad tempered Black Rhino, the Black Rhino Reserve is home to the BIG 5 (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant, and White & Black Rhino) as well as cheetah and wild dog. Antelope species include Sable, Tsetsebe, Eland, Gemsbok and Springbok. With a species list of over 354, the Black Rhino Reserve is also a true "birders paradise".

So whether you are a couple looking for an exclusive, romantic, private safari or you need to arrange a full family getaway, Morokolo Safari Lodge is the place for you. We also cater for small conferences and company getaways.

Included in your daily rate: Dinner, breakfast, high tea and 2 safaris daily. Beverages and conservation levies charged extra.

Lovely weekend by

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at Morokolo and Black Rhino Reserve. The setting is beautiful, the staff are attentive and caring and were incredibly good with our little boy. We saw lion, leopard, huge herds of elephant and rhino, and our ranger, who was incredibly knowledgeable even took us on a night drive. All in all, an amazing weekend.

Excellent service by

Very impressed with the team at Morokolo. Byron and Lize were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful.

The gate was opened for us and Robert greeted us with a delicious, refreshing drink, oshibori, and tour of the lodge and our cabin. I love the bathroom and in warmer weather, would love the outdoor shower. The bed and bedding were lovely. I do think I would remove the glass from the built-in glass container above the sink in the bathroom: it tricks one into thinking one can drink from the tap. Dinner and breakfast were great.

Had a great time by

Stayed for 1 night on the 27 August and was met by Jackie and Rhian on our arrival who gave us a very warm welcome before showing us to our beautifully equipped luxury home for the night. Rhian took us on two game drives which were well paced and with refreshments and lots of great information and chats. We saw white rhinos, elephants and plenty of eland as well as many exotic and interesting birds. There was a hospitality bar both in the room and at the main lodge and with plenty of alcoholic drinks (wine and beer) soft drinks and ice. We sat by the pool but it was a little murky due to problems with pool pipework and pump (a shame really because the weather was beautiful). A pool repairman did attend the problem though and was making efforts to make good. Great views from all the rooms with spotlessly clean terraces and outdoor shower area. The only thing that is disappointing to have to mention is the fact that dinner and breakfast is taken at another lodge (only 2 minutes away) but due to no restaurant facility at Morokolo. This not only interferes with the relaxation that you feel staying at Morokolo which is a more upmarket lodge than the Black Rhino lodge, but the food is extremely poor and not in keeping with the seamless quality you experience prior to these visits to the Black Rhino restaurant. Also to go on game viewing drives and then straight to this lodge for a poor meal experience gives you little chance to freshen up, have a drink on the terrace at the beautiful Morokolo Lodge. Would I go again? Definitely yes because I can't speak highly enough of Rhian and Jackie and the lodge itself. The Morokolo Lodge badly needs its own COOK (We wanted to stay there, that's why we came). Thanks so much. Jonathan & Martin (British Airways cabin crew)
