At Nanzhila Plains Camp we offer Africa in its true unrefined beauty. Vast and spacious, you will never see another vehicle on a game drive because your nearest neighbours are three hours away.
Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp is a new development located on the site of the old Nanzhila Rest Camp built in the late 1950's, in the remote and seldom visited southern sector of Kafue National Park. The area is best known for its lush woodlands of Miombo, Zambezi Teak and Mopane and the beautiful plains and the stream that runs through it, after which our lodge is named. Nanzhila Plains offers excellent opportunities to see populations of a number of antelope species, including Roan and Sable, Reedbuck, Defassa Waterbuck, Oribi, Hartebeest and Eland as well as all the major carnivores, with a particularly strong population of Wild Dog and Cheetah. The bird life is phenomenal throughout the year.
The raised, thatched boma is situated under the shade of a huge Jackelberry Tree. It houses the lounge and dining area, bar and verandah, with a stunning and elevated view of the dambo. Our communal open-air fireplace is where guests can enjoy a warm fire, a cold drink, good fellowship and the sounds of the African night.
Currently the lodge is able to accommodate up to six guests in three well-appointed thatch cottages. The cottages are spacious, have en-suite facilities with hot showers and toilets and have been tastefully decorated. We also have three en-suite safari tents that can accommodate up to six people.
