Olienhout Lodge is a beautifully decorated lodge with exceptional views of the Vaal River and the surrounding mountains. It is situated in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site, a mere two hours' drive from Gauteng. It consists of three bedrooms (sleeping up to eight people) and two bathrooms. The lodge also has two braai areas as well as a fireplace for the cold winter nights. The kitchen is fully-equipped for a weekend away and all bedding and towels are provided (including electric blankets during winter).

The house is situated 100 m from the river on a mountain slope, and occasionally you can hear the call of the fish eagle.

First time ever we stayed in place with enough wine glasses!! by

We were quite surprised by the well planned and equipped lodge. Anything you may need (even Tabard for the mosquitos) is available. It's well kept and the staff who assisted with cleaning were very polite and friendly. The location of the lodge is excellent. The view is perfect. We'll definitely visit Olienhout again in future. The only challenge was the steep paved road leading up to the lodge. I'll advise people to make sure your vehicle can pull a loaded trailer before you attempt it. :-) Thanks for Cronnie who send Amos to our rescue!
