Pension Gecko is a charming, informal, relaxed self-catering guest house catering for backpackers and travellers who enjoy some comforts, without blowing the budget. We offer suitable accommodation for students, interns, researchers, NGO's, volunteers and others. In addition, we are conveniently situated in the vicinity of Northcliff, Cresta, Melville, Auckland Park and in close proximity of both the University of Johannesburg and Witwatersrand.

The guest house features a wonderful entertainment area where guests can come together, relax and enjoy one another's company. We are located 5 km from Melville's 7th Avenue, which is like walking back in time to pavement cafes, restaurants, bars, craft shops as well as clubs and music venues.

Linda & Martin made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to assist us with directions around Johannesburg and many other things . The cottage was neat & clean and well equipped. Excellent value for money.

My stay at Pension Gecko was brief, but very restful. Linda was very concerned that i had everything that i needed. The family were very sociable and welcoming. I felt safe and secure and very relaxed! The accommodation was spacious, neat and clean. I personally thought that the decor was lovely and the place was well furnished, giving a feeling of warmth and comfort. I would definitely recommend staying at Pension Gecko.

I had a great stay at Pension Gecko. Upon five minutes of my arrival I was made part of the family. This is definitely a home away from home. If I do not come back I will definitely recommend the place to my colleagues. The hospitality by Linda and Crew exceeded my expectations. South Africa is a better place because of people like Linda and places like Pension Gecko.

This is one of the most spacious facilities that I have been at. Large kitchen, large lounge area and dining area. Very comfortable bedroom. Neatly and tastefully furnished. Choice of bath or shower. In a quiet area. You will not get better lodging at the price.
