A 100-year old building that has been restored to its former glory situated in the little picturesque town of Barkly - East, in the Southern Drakensberg.

The wooden floors, high ceilings, beautifully decorated rooms and warm hospitality will make your stay at Royal Manor an unforgettable experience. We offer 14 rooms in total, where three of them are family rooms fitted with two queen beds, a bath and shower as well as a toilet and basin.

The Royal Manor has 11 queen rooms decorated with lovely decor and fitted with queen-sized beds and more.

Guests can explore activities and attractions such as hiking, cycling, 4x4 trails, angling, trout fishing, San rock art, historical attractions as well as a variety of natural attractions.

We went to Barkley East for one night with the bikes for a weekend break-away from Bloem. After the nice day of riding we couldn't have asked for a better stay. Neat, tidy and very historic. If you are heading in that direction I cannot think of a better stay! Loved every bit!

What a beautifully restored and decorated hotel with welcoming and friendly staff. Our suitcase was taken up the stairs for us. The room, Dohne, was pristine and cosy: the heater was switched on. I appreciated the electric blanket and other finer touches. The WiFi worked well. Our dinner was served in the dining room where a fire was lit in the old fireplace. I would definitely recommend this beautiful hundred year old hotel.

Royal Manor rated well beyond our expectations. Spotlessly clean, characterful hotel with electric blankets that kept us toasty on an icy winters night. Scrumptious breakfast was included in the price making our overall stay excellent value for money. The restaurant serves great dinners and the pecan flour rusks on sale in the cafe are delicious.
