Stanley Island Private Nature Reserve is the only privately-owned island in South Africa and it is situated in the spectacularly beautiful Keurbooms Lagoon.

This 28-hectare nature reserve has its own indigenous forest, a 1000 metre grass runway, magnificent birdlife and secluded thatched chalets. Game roam freely among the chalets and there are long stretches of private beach. The island is a wonderful base for all water sports and it is ideally positioned for exploring the Plettenberg Bay area. Your privacy is our priority and escaping the mainland is a mere ferry trip away.

Guests have the full use of our canoes; and motorboats are available for rent. Residents and guests can access the island by small aircraft or our own ferry.

Our island getaway by

We needed to escape the main land and what better place than an island. Stanley island was perfect as it was only a 5 minute drive from Plettenburg bay. Our host was friendly, our accommodation was perfect and the rate affordable.

Awesome Experience by

WE had a lovely stay, very relaxing and a special experience. Tinnie and the staff are fabulous, very accommodating and relaxed and with great attention to detail. The accommodation is top class. Highlight is the ferry crossing. Will definitely be back.

Great escape by

Absolutely magic. Great service and interactions with the staff who made us feel right at home. Very relaxing and the stars were incredible. Couldn't believe we were just off the N2. Definitely something to repeat.

Stanley Island by

Manager and staff very friendly and helpfull. An oven in the sc units would be a bonus else some casserole dishes for use in microwave. Housekeeping not completely up to standard as rooms were tidied but not really dusted and staff staying in rooms at reception area not recommended as it does not give good impression with clothes hanging over balistrades. Ferry was my main concern but worked out fine and car was safe parked at on main land. Christopher very helpfull and friendly. Pool needs good cleaning. Overall stay was nice. Beach bar did not bother us but if you were looking for a quiet stay in nature it could have been a problem
