Sugarbush Hill lies on the northern slopes of a peaceful valley in the Magaliesberg Mountain Range. We are on the Rustenburg side of the range, about 50 km from Hartebeespoort Dam and 25 km from Rustenburg. It takes just over an hour to get to us from Fourways and an hour and a quarter from the eastern suburbs of Pretoria.



All our units are set at the foot of a hill and all have their own braai's, carports and deep stoeps with panoramic mountain views. Guests are welcome to explore the 11Ha of indigenous bush. Sugarbush Hill gets its name from the Common Sugarbush, Protea caffra that can be found in abundance on the hillside just behind the units. All the cottages have been named after indigenous plants found in the Magaliesberg area. Wherever possible, alien species have been done away with or replaced with indigenous plants. As a result, our bird life is prolific and slowly but surely we are creating a natural haven where city folk can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Buffelspoort valley. We have identified and tagged a lot of indigenous trees on our property, so if you would like to brush up on your tree knowledge, bring along a tree book and spend some time looking them up. 

We can now proudly say that we are a 3-star establishment, after having been graded by the Tourism Grading Council of S.A. This means that our guests can be assured of certain minimum standards.

Absolutely wonderful ! by

We will definitely visit again.

The people are friendly and very helpful, but our stay wasn't nice. We came back early because I had a allergic rush allover my body and was one whole day in hospital. The Dr said it must be something that I was allergic to, maybe the grass or something there. It wasn't what we were expecting either. But maybe other people would like it there. Not much to do also.

Dissapointed by

The facilities were perfect and it was just what we had come to expect from the hype that I had recieved about these guest cottages. The rooms were clean and perfectly stocked. The management was freindly and very accomodating. But the attitude of the owner shocked me.
We booked our accomodation in January, In September I was offered a full refund as there was a wedding taking place on the weekend we had booked for. I declined as this trip was for my sons 13th birthday.
On the night of the wedding when I called at midnight to ask about the music levels and when they would be lowered as the windows were vibrating I was reminded that I was offered a full refund.
The owner would have prefered to remind me she was fully prepared to cancel my holiday and refund me than treat me like a paying, forward planning guest. I found her to be rude and annoyed by my call. This left me very dissapointed and angry, I will not return.

Beautiful View by

It has a beautiful view and was clean and well appointed and the management is friendly. However, it is not the place to go if you want to hike as there are no walking routes on the property; it is on the opposite side of the road to the resorts with access to the gorges.
