Tarantula Self-catering offers comfortable accommodation in two fully furnished units located on the outskirts of Calvinia. The units are ideal for couples or small families visiting the small town and they have spectacular views of the beautiful Hantam Mountains.

These private units have their own entrances and are fully equipped for self-catering. Each open-plan kitchen is equipped with a microwave, stove, hob, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery. All units are equipped with king-size beds, with bedding and electric blankets provided. The units are fully air-conditioned and each has a private patio with braai facilities.

Calvinia is an attractive little town in the Northern Cape. Guests can enquire at the local tourism office about guided walking tours of the town's special places of interest.

Little gem in Calvinia by

Charming, delightful unit with an exquisite interior, beautiful bathroom and kitchen equipped with everything to make it a wonderful stay. Bed and mattress recipe for hours of peaceful sleep. The exterior patio with braai is the best place to relax and to enjoy the peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Extremely friendly and helpful hosts. Will definitely revisit in future.

Perfect by

We were amazed by how modern the cottage was. And spoiled by everything that was there. Frans and Hendrina was the perfect hosts. Even waiting up for us because we had a crisis leaving Cape Town. I will really recommend Tarantula to all! But make sure to spend time there and enjoy the facilities and the area.

We really loved our stay here - Frans and Hendrina were really accommodating and friendly, and made sure our stay was fantastic. The unit we stayed in looked out over a beautiful Karoo vista, including windmills and an open expanse of stunning Karoo, as the Tarantula is situated on the edge of town. This is the perfect stop over on the drive from Joburg to Cape Town, and we have definitely found the place we want to stay every time we travel the route.

Peace and quite by

Tarantula represents a sophisticated offering of modern facilities in a rural setting without equal in the Northern Cape. Imagine laying in bed and your horizon is set by a mountain range 50km away !! I will not talk about the sleeping experience, that pleasure you will have to discover for yourself.
