The Blue Orchid is a self-catering unit overlooking the Hartbeespoort Dam. Set in a beautiful location the unit has views of the Magalies Mountains and can comfortably sleep four people.

The spacious two bedroom thatch unit is furnished and fully equipped for self-catering. Each bedroom has its own elegant bathroom and balcony overlooking the dam.

The kitchen is well equipped and includes a fridge-freezer, microwave and all cutlery and crockery. The living room has ample seating and a TV with full DStv. The living room includes a dining table and large doors leading out onto a patio with braai facilities available.

I arranged with the owners to have champagne and chocolates available as it was my parents wedding anniversary. They didn't hesitate for a second to accommodate my request. They were extremely helpful and super efficient. My folks also reported back that it was a beautiful place with warm hospitality. Thanks to you guys for making this special.

When we arrived at The Blue Orchid we found a for sale sign outside the house. We were not told the house is for sale. All the steep steps leading up to the house was quite a challenge - no one told us about all these step. I had an elderly friend from Canada visiting SA and she really battled up and down these steps. The house was dusty and felt like it had not been cleaned for days. The oven was disgustingly dirty looked like it had never been cleaned. We actually couldn't cook in the oven. The couches in the lounge were very uncomfortable to sit on. The place is dark and dingy. The only nice thing was the views. I most certainly will not be going back. I think the owner may have lost interest in the house and that is why it is up for sale. A definite no no.
