The Loft is a comfortable and charming renovated Victorian building near the ski slopes of Tiffindell. It is set snugly in the town of Barkly East in the alpine region of the Witteberg Mountains, Southern Drakensburg. This lovely house is the perfect place to stay when exploring this magnificent area.

The house has one delightful double bedroom with queen-bed; one comfortable twin bedroom,. A kitchen is available for guests. Barkly East is one of the few places in South Africa that experiences annual snowfalls. All the bedrooms are heated, and the house is north-facing, so it remains cosy in the chilly, snowy winters.

Choose to go on day drives to explore the many caves of San Rock Art in the vicinity, or go horse-back riding in the mountains. Perhaps a day on the ski slopes at Tiffindell takes your fancy, or a day lazing on the river with a picnic basket filled with scrumptious goodies. The birdlife is prolific, and the trout still take the bait. The alpine flowers are just beautiful, and you might spot a shooting star in the breath-taking night-sky. Meals available on request.

The loft is a cosy and interestingly decorated establishment. We had comfortable stay.

Warm, welcoming stay by

We arrived 6:30pm, the heater in my room was on which immediately gave me a warm welcoming feeling! Sylvia welcomed us. The cottage is wel equiped, with enough warm water to allow two people to take a bath after each other.
