Whitsend CottageBarrydale, Western Cape, South Africa Zelf-Zichricht | (POA) |
Whitsend Cottage is situated on a quiet road on the very edge of the village overlooking farmland, providing a quiet, private, setting. The stone cottage is built in an eco-friendly manner with solar lighting, gas geyser for instant hot water, gas stove and a fireplace for warming the cottage.
A gas heater is also provided for clients not wanting to light a fire. All the window glass has been replaced with laminated glass for better insulation and obviates the need for burglar bars.
A double bed in the main bedroom, a single and bunk bed in a separate bedroom provide comfortable sleeping arrangements for three adults and two children. An additional sleeper couch provides for an additional person.
The cosy, spaciously designed cottage is built with the local slate stone (leiklip). Wooden furnishings are mostly handmade with the wood of various trees, complementing the Whitsend Arboretum theme.
The Disahouse specialist nursery, situated on the same property, is open by appointment. November marks the start of the disa season.
