Zikomo Safari is a remote, affordable camp in a game-rich area in South Luangwa National Park on South Luangwa River. It is only 45 minutes from Mfuwe. Guests can cool down in the swimming pool at the main lodge which also has a bar, a dining area, a gift shop and a workout facility for those who want to stay in shape on their holiday. Zikomo Safari invites guests to stay with them and fall in love with the land, the people, and the wildlife.
Zikomo offers guests a range of accommodation types from the all-inclusive Chalets, to the self-catering and self-drive Bush Huts and Campsites. There are nine Chalets of which two are family size chalets and seven are double size. All nine Chalets have private decks and face the river ensuring guests have ample opportunity to view wildlife. The rooms are furnished with a combination of double and single beds with mosquito nets and each Chalet has an en-suite bathroom with a toilet and a shower. Activities, meals, drinks - soft drinks, water, wine with dinner and sundowner cocktails only - Mfuwe airport pick-ups and park fees are all included in the Chalet rates.
The lovely Bush Huts and Campsites are self-catering only and no overland trucks or generators are allowed. The Bush Huts are fully enclosed and are each furnished with twin beds that can be converted into double beds. They have private bathrooms with toilets and bucket showers. The Campsites face the river and each site has a summer hut for shade where guests can make use of the fire pits. Ablution facilities are available and consist of toilets and showers only. Water as well as several cement sink areas are available for washing dishes.
Various activities such as bush walks, game drives, night drives and trips to the local village and local hot springs can be arranged. Due to the camp being so close to the river, various animals can be seen including hippos, crocodiles, herds of impala, bushbuck, giraffe and zebra. From the island guests will be able to spot lions, a few leopards and two wild dog packs.
