Outeniqua Trout LodgeDie Vlug, Western Cape, South Africa Self-catering from R 275 | R 275 |
We are ideal for people who appreciate nature and an abundance of birdlife. Only 55 km from Knysna, our lodge offers a relaxed getaway to experience nature, sunshine and fresh air. One of the highlights is fly-fishing in both rivers and dams, for rainbow and brown trout. Take a lazy afternoon stroll on our peaceful farm, stop for a swim in our mountain water pool or enjoy an energetic walk or bike ride in the fresh mountain air.
If fly-fishing is not your passion, enjoy a hike up the Kwaai River where you can see bushman paintings, enjoy pristine water pools and experience unspoiled nature at its best. If you enjoy mountain biking then you can take the challenge up the mountain or cycle the Prince Alfred Pass towards either Knysna or Uniondale, both offering breathtaking scenic views.
We have four well-appointed, self-catering log cabins that sleep up to six people each. Two of the cabins are situated on a stocked trout dam and the other two are above the farm, with views over the mountain pass and farm valley. All cabins are well spaced for privacy.
The cabins are semi-equipped with a kitchen, a main en-suite bedroom with a queen-size bed and shower. The second bedroom has two three-quarter beds and the second bathroom is equipped with a shower and bath. In the lounge area there is a comfortable sleeper couch and a ceramic fireplace for those cold winter nights. Outside there is a spacious deck with a table and chairs, and a Weber braai is provided. All linen and bath towels are also provided.
Four spacious Indian (teepee) tents make up our wonderful Camp Gwaai, nestled in a pecan tree forest. The camp is ideal for individuals, couples, families and small or large groups. The camp facilities are communal creating the environment for individuals to interact and socialise. The tents are situated some distance away from the entertainment area and are well spaced for maximum privacy.
Each tent is equipped with four three quarter beds, cotton linen, an extra blanket, shower towels, for the chilly winter nights we supply hot water bottles and basic supply of wood for the ceramic wood-burning fireplace. Each tent has its own private bathroom situated in a seperate building situated some short distance away from the tent area with a hot shower and flush toilet.
