Protea Farm is situated in the famous Koo Valley, 29 km from Montagu in the heart of the scenic Route 62. Due to the cold climate and winter snow, the valley provides the perfect conditions for producing apples and pears. During this time proteas also blossom wild on the mountain.
Protea Farm offers something special, throughout each season. From the beautiful colours of the orchards during autumn, to icy winter nights snuggling in front of a fireplace, right through to the beautiful blossoms of spring. On vibrant summer days, fun can be had swimming in the farm lake, on the beautiful hiking trails and enjoying the idyllic territory for mountain biking.
Situated in the middle of untouched nature, Protea Farm offers three self-catering cottages where you can relax and de-stress in the tranquil surroundings. These rustic cottages are equipped with all you will need to enjoy your time away.
In 1985, the farm started its legendary tractor excursions up the Langeberg Mountain where you will fall in love with the peaceful surroundings. The tractor, pulling its load of passengers, meanders its way up the Langeberg Mountain to an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level. On the way, you will have a bird's eye view of the Koo Valley and, once at the top, you can look down into the Robertson Valley below.
