About 7 km northwest from Rakops in Botswana you will find the Rakops Lodge - or more correctly known, the Rakops River Lodges.
The lodge is only 45 km from the Matswere Gate of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and 60 km from Kumaga Gate of the Makgadikgadi National Park. Lake Xau about 60 km away and all the rivers in the Okavango Delta, such as the Thamalakane River, end at the lake. The Rakops River Lodge is surrounded by short Setshi bush and Candle Thorn bush. They are often visited by the Makgadikgadi elephants during winter. Visitors can choose between individually thatched guestrooms with shower and flat screen television or camping facilities. The rooms are small, but spotlessly clean and very well equipped. DStv is available at the lodge. There is also a restaurant that offers full breakfast. Lunch and dinner are served on request. The campsite is modern, with each campsite boasting a lapa (traditional fireplace). The ablution blocks offer hot showers and modern clean toilets according to international standards.
