Rolbaken Guesthouse and Nature ReserveOudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa Self-catering from R 390 (family units from R 900) | R 390 |
Being up in the foothills of the mountains means that we experience weather that is milder than Oudtshoorn; it is never either as cold or as hot as the town. In winter, frost is a rare occurrence and the summer nights are always blessed with a cool breeze. We are just 20 km from the main N12 from Beaufort West to Oudtshoorn on a very good gravel road and just 40 km from Oudtshoorn itself. The farm offers a place to relax, unwind and get away from it all, or can serve as a wonderful springboard for exploring the area.Lucern for animal feed and rose geranium for the essential oil industry are the focus of the farming side of Rolbaken, whilst the largest part of the farm is on the verge of being declared a nature reserve. Dick is working towards starting a breeding program for the endangered Cape mountain zebra of the Kammanassie Nature Reserve. Our spacious double and twin rooms are decorated with antiques to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere and the bedrooms offer a variety of accommodation. Children from 4 to 14 are charged at R160 per night in their own room or a supplement if sharing with their parents. Guests can choose to self-cater or may opt for bed and breakfast, or be treated to dinner, bed and breakfast. Meal prices are available on request. The guest house has good cell phone reception but does not have a television. Each room has its own private entrance with a spectacular view of the rolling hills.
