Situated at the foothills of the Nuveld Mountains in the Great Karoo, 80km west of Beaufort West and 60km north of Leeu Gamka, Rooiheuwel is a self-catering guest farm that serves as an oasis in the harsh Karoo landscape.

Here guests will be graced by a magnificent and authentic Karoo experience. The silence, tranquility, peace and open-starry sky at night is something special to experience.

Accommodation comprises of two fully equipped farmhouses, a fully equipped cottage, a mountain chalet, a farm shed for overnighting with an indoor fireplace, a stone shepherd's house in the veld and camping sites under the thorn trees with ablution facilities.

Here guests will be graced by a magnificent and authentic Karoo experience. The silence, tranquility, peace and open starry sky at night is something special to experience. This establishment is pet friendly.

In addition to the farm's sheep and game there is also an exotic bird collection. The famous Karoo lamb and boerewors can be ordered for the duration of your stay or to take home. Firewood is available.

Come and let your children experience real farm life, without cell phones or TV and have peace for your soul. We can assure you that no one will return home untouched after a Karoo farm holiday.

What an experience ! For any-one needing time away from everything and every one - this is the place to go. We experienced extreme heat - day and night, but not complaining ! This is obviously what the Karoo residents deem "normal". Flip and Marge are great people and it was really a great stay. Thank you all so much

Will definitely be returning to this small cottage in the middle of nowhere. Was an amazing experience staying there.



We had a wonderful camping experience. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of shade under the thorn bush trees. The hiking trails took us on wonderful expeditions.

The owners are lovely kind people.
