The Cob House is a beautiful family home built mostly out of natural and organic materials such as clay, straw, wood and lots of love.
Our guest accommodation includes the ChicShak, an open plan self catering space, with queen sized bed, table and chairs, kitchenette, breakfast nook and en-suite bathroom, ideal for a couple.
We also offer a separate guest room with a queen-size bed and single futon/couch, and en-suite shower/toilet. Linen, curtains, mattresses and towels have all been made from natural and organic or recycled materials, wherever possible. There is private access to the garden.
The house is situated 200 m from Muizenberg Beach, which is a perfect beach to learn to surf as well as a family swimming beach. There are many other family facilities behind the beachfront, including water slides and putt-putt courses. Muizenberg has many shops, including organic grocery shops, restaurants, surf schools and performance venues. It is one of the most diverse and interesting communities in the Cape.
The house is also 200 m from Zandvlei which is home to the Cape Town International Kite Festival in spring, as well as water sports and plenty of bird life. We are a five-minute walk from the False Bay Train Station, which has regular connections to central Cape Town and to other resort towns along the Cape Peninsula.
We are nestled below Muizenberg mountain, which is part of the Table Mountain Range and has spectacular hiking and caving opportunities. There is a comprehensive guide book available listing a variety of hikes, for different levels, in the nearby area.
Only half an hour walk along a beautiful coastal path, with two tidal pools ideal for swimming along the way, is the popular Kalk Bay, well worth a visit.
