Great place by

We stayed at Somerset Lodge for one night last week. It is very cosy and clean with friendly service. Deon is a great host.

No good by

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this B&B. The room had no window so was stuffy and it is very old and shabby. They don't even supply a little soap. I actually thought it was a bit of a dump. The view of the garden is misleading as the rest of the place is very DIY but badly done. The door to our room looked like a door to a shed and it didn't fit the doorframe so the light from outside shone through all night. Outside the room was a sheet of corrugated roofing and as it was raining the water dripped noisely on the roof all night.

Establishment Response:

This is a very unfortunate situation and the comment, made us look at the specific room as to improve the facility as from the customers point of view.

It is an old building which dates to 1860, so it should be viewed with appreciation for that era ? it is most certainly NOT DIY.

The room is clean, tidy and I admit there was not soap and shampoo put out, which we apologise for.. We would gladly have provided this if the guests had told us that we had neglected these very important commodities.

Unfortunetly there was a very heavy down pour of rain when they arrived, thus they never saw the garden at any stage of their stay which is a pity. I do not know to which garden she is referring, propably the few plants in front of their room.

We looked at the door (stable door) for that era, we will see if light does shine through and will fix it.

The noise of the rain on the shelter roof I apologise for.

This is really very sad for us, because we enjoy our guesthouse and always strive to deliver exceptional service to our guests.

Wonderlike belewenis by

Marvelous weekend by

Thanks to everybody who made us feel at home. The lodge is a very good place to stay. Peaceful and quiet with a beautiful garden and swimming pool with braai facilities. Will definitely recommend it to friends and family.
