Sora Lodge

Lalibela, Amhara, Ethiopia
Lodge (family units from R 928)
R 928

Sora Lodge Lalibela is managed by a German-Ethiopian family, built in 2013. It is a 35-minute drive from Lalibela Airport and is within walking distance to the southern group of rock-hewn churches.

The lodge offers a unique and beautiful view of the Asheten Mariam Mountain and the valleys. There are nine guest rooms available, all with two large verandas facing west and east, providing incredible sunsets. Our manicured garden is the ideal place to just relax and watch eagles flying over the valley, especially the Lamergeer, as it is endemic to Ethiopia.

Liya's Hall is our restaurant and is nestled against the edge of the valley, just below the lodge itself, built in the shape of a traditional Tukul hut. Western and Ethiopian cuisine are served, as well as free cooking classes available.

Transfers to the airport, churches and Asheten Mariam Mountain can be arranged on request. Trekking tours through the highlands as well as farm visits in the surrounding villages are provided.
