Sun Karros Daan Viljoen

Set in the rolling hills of the Khomas Hochland, less than 20km from Windhoek, is The Daan Viljoen Game Park. The 4000 ha Game Park is home to a wide variety of indigenous mammals, reptiles, and 200-plus bird species.

Nestled in the heart of the park is the alluring Sun Karros Daan Viljoen.

Modern-day chalets are dotted around the bank of The Augeigas Dam. These contemporary units all comprise of the main bedrooms and bathrooms with showers. The private patios comprise outdoor umbrellas, furniture and braai facilities. In unit facilities included air-conditioning, roof fans, small safes, hairdryers, 220v charging facilities, satellite TVs, Wi-Fi access, writer's tables, tea and coffee stations with mini fridge. Two of the nineteen rooms are slightly large in size and are available to families equipped with a double bed and a single sleeper bed. An additional single stretcher with bedding and or camper cot can be requested. BBQ Utensil box with cutlery, crockery, and basic BBQ amenities are available at reception a rental return deposit applies.

The Porcupine Campsite is a new campsite just completed at Daan Viljoen. The seven pods are dotted around small hill near the main reception area with that is covered by Camelthorn trees and grass terrace. The exclusive camper pods now offer campers the comfort of their own private facilities. Facilities include a Pod comprising of bathroom with separate shower and toilet and a small kitchenette with a washbasin and preparation area. The roof is extended to include the built in BBQ. These sites accommodate up to 6 guests.

The Suricate Campsite is tailored for groups. The grass-covered camping terrace that snakes around the bank of the dam. Each camp island is equipped with an open-air braai area, a wash basin and preparation area, 220v electricity access and a camp light. This site is serviced by a shared ablution facilities of the same standard as the main lodge bathrooms, making this one of the most popular camping destinations.

The facilities of the lodge include a restaurant with an alfresco terrace overlooking the crisp blue swimming pool, of almost 20 m in length, is a welcome cool-down after long sun-filled days.

Sunbeds and umbrellas are dotted around the pool area where guests can relax and soak up the sun.

The ablution facilities include outdoor pool showers.

The reception is tech-current and wired to offer overnight guests free Wifi and /or internet access via the small internet station available at the reception. The kiosk is stocked with essentials and curios for your convenience.

Day visitors and guests to the park enjoy self-guided one-way game drives of 6.5 km, high-clearance vehicles are needed. There is also a choice of two hiking trails. The 3 km ?Wag ?n Bietjie' Trail leading down to The Stengel Dam and The 9 km Rooibos Trail taking avid hikers along The Augeigas Dam and to the eastern highlands.

The lodge offers guided activities that take guest by foot or vehicle to explore the Game Park on exclusive routes. Guest can enjoy early morning or late afternoon game drive and or enjoy a sundowner drive with light snacks and a selection of soft drinks and or local beer, ciders and or a good glass of house wine. Transfer option is available from the International Airport to lodge and or lodge and city. Reception will provide information with regards to additional activities and costs.

The Kudu, Gemsbok and Es Conference units are fully equipped with all the modern high-tech equipment. They boast the wonderful views.

The Kraal Restaurant and options of two free-style tents and a number of alfresco venues are ideal for private functions and or corporate events. With on-site event coordinators and team-building facilitators, each event is tailor made to perfection.

Wedding Venues: Sun Karros Daan Viljoen can host from small intimate weddings to 200 guests. We have two indoor venues and several outdoor options including free form tents. Each weddings costing is tailor made in accordance with the choice of menu.

Conference Venues: Sun Karros Daan Viljoen offers three conference venues for the business traveler, namely the Kudu, Gemsbok, and Es. The venues are all equipped with projector, pull down screen, whiteboard, flip chart, stationary folder, and Wi-Fi.
