Fort Beaufort was founded by in 1822 and was named after Lord Charles Somerset's father , the Duke of Beaufort . The Martello tower was built in 1836 and is the only Martello tower ever built inland .

Ideal for a family where all can sit around the lounge and enjoy the meal and TV. Although we were there to attend a funeral, our two night stay provided the opportunity to form a closer bond and the setting of the B & B helped a great deal. Its easy to find and the hosts are very friendly.

It was a pleasant stay very friendly people and we were made to feel really at home.

Great stay by

All was great and we had a lovely time. the owners knowledge of the history of the town was a great surprise to my 87 year old mother who revisited her youth!

The driveway is just really uneven and bumpy.
