The Cottage and the 2 bedrooms-accommodation are both elegantly furnished, kept very clean and are everything to be desired. Bridget and her husband are wonderful hosts in every respect. My next time in Cape Town will definitely also be my next time at Taurus Place. Utterly disappointing by Samantha Blumberg 06 July 2017 We couldn't gain access until late afternoon as couldn't get hold of owner (this began a general pattern). When I finally managed to, she said she was never given my number by safari. That made no sense as how do guests normally get in? She said she'd leave the key for us. Again, interesting as she said she wasn't home. When we finally did arrive, there was no one there to greet us or show us how to unlock the slamlock gate (which needed the key to be turned in the opposite direction!) and there was absolutely no light so we couldn't see a thing. Once in the room, no one explained how the Dstv worked (it could only be set in the one room) or the wifi which only worked intermittently (everytime I tried to get hold of her to let her know, either the message didn't go thru or it took her forever to get back to me). Despite there being a note asking guests not to fiddle with the wifi, I ended up having to. It subsequently worked for a bit but after 2 days, it just stopped and I didn't bother to nag her as there didn't seem any point. I am still waiting for a reply from the message I sent yesterday. No one has ever come to check. No cleaner ever came - when I enquired, I was told that the char was ill and she couldn't get a friend to help. There are cleaning services!! I offered to have my domestic come in and said I'd pay for it. She said yes, have her come in. I sent messsges asking for cleaning products, vacuum etc. no response. The towels were thin rags - when I asked for other ones I was told to merely hang them over the heated towel rail. There was no water absorption so we ended up with damp, warm, smelly towels. I had to empty our bins. I was told where the black bins were - around the side again in the dark. The main house was perpetually in darkness and there was no way to get hold of anyone as there was no bell. A concern of mine was that someone seemed to have been in our room on Sunday, we arrived on the Friday and were told there was no cleaner til Monday whom, as I've mentioned, never materialized. Some towels that I had put aside, were removed. I still haven't had an answer about that despite asking. I paid to stay two extra nights. Unfortunately I have to stay one extra night and the last message I had said we could. At this point I am not paying for it. I am so angry with the lacksadasical way this establishment appears to be run and the total lack of focus on guests. I lost so much valuable time for work due to the wifi problem and this was the main reason I chose this place. I have run two successful guest houses in Cape Town so I do know how it should be done. I have no hesitation in saying this was the worst self catering experience I've ever had. I will say that the beds are very comfortable. TAURUS PLACE SELF-CATERING LOCATION
